Ollie arrived at the farm in desperate need of medical attention. He had been severely neglected and was very malnourished. Frankly, we didn't think he would survive the first night. He did and he's doing a little better every day.
Ollie is a byproduct of the dairy industry. Males don't have much use other than for the production of veal. In a way, Ollie was lucky. An infection in joints eliminated him as a candidate for veal. Meds would have permanently made him ineligible so he was quarantined in the hopes the infection would just go away. He lived like that by himself for over a year. No interactions with anyone of his kind. Minimal interactions with humans. Too weak to recover on his own. Too strong to fade away.
At Refarm he cohabitates with many other hooved animals. Floki may be his favorite companion animal. He is definitely a visitor first pick. There is lots of love in his life now.
